This photograph has a certain reflection, appeal to it. The whiteness of the snow seems to be bright and with a hint of color as some B&W photos have. The straight line of the posts & line give it an edge. Distance waters adds wonder. The person on the walkway gives it a feel of that quiet escape, place to take it all in. You have captured a sense of peaceful living. A B&W reality of wonder mixed with reality. Very nice composition. Really like how the path shows footprints/trampled snow and then it seems to disappear. A perfect storm composition. :butterfly:

Possible the best snow photo taken as an art image with an Argus C3. The composition is correct, the framing pleasing and the image sharpness is all you could ask for.

For those not familiar with this 1940s camera, this was a full function, focusing rangefinder with apertures and shutter speeds, but lacking parallax correction. While a great moderately inexpensive camera for the era, they were only great if you were a great photographer, which in this case is so.

As for this image, I find the elements all come together, as if taken with a professional Nikon or Leica. The little bonus of the man walking far away, is an extra not expected, while the light house on the end of the slit of land makes an effective edge of interest, just as important as the fencing rail on the lower right edge.

That's excellent, the fence line to the lighthouse makes the picture!

I am always drawn to images of bright snow with a contrasting dark sky. This one works also very well for me

The partners at Image City Photo Gallery apparently agreed.  This one is in their current "Magic of Light" juried show.  :)

Beautiful photo. It reminds me somewhat of Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken." There's a feeling of loneliness in it, of "smallness" or "meagerness," but I also get a sense of hope.

Thanks, Rebecca. (one 'b' and two 'c's?)

It was a chilly one.  I ventured out on the pier and quickly decided I was not dressed for the cold wind.

It's been up and down here.  Last week we were well above freezing.  This week we're back in the basement.

Yes, though it's wide and stable and has the cable.  But you would not last long if you hit the water.

I'm finally getting comfortable with mine.  Shifting back and forth between rangefinder and viewfinder takes some getting used to.
