Welcome to CRPhotography's 52 week photography challenge for 2016! Every Saturday we will be announcing a new idea for you to photograph, and submit to us via comment on each announcement journal. This project aims to challenge you with new concepts and requirements that you may not normally face. This week's challenge is:

Images of Peace

It has been quite a year, my friends, full, it seems, of everything but peace. Yet in the midst of the anger and bigotry and bloodshed and the tumult of our lives, there is peace to be found if we can open our eyes and hearts to see it.

We are closing out the 2016 52 Week Photography Challenge with an end-of-year celebration of peace. Between now and the end of December, choose one of your photographs from 2016 that captures for you the peace that is not simply the absence of violence but the fullness of well-being and harmony that comprise true peace.

Post your image here. I well collect them in my usual gathering place. After the first of the year I will put together an Images of Peace feature with the images you submit.

Namaste,
Steve

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to leave a comment here or send us a note.

This project aims to challenge you with new concepts and requirements that you may not normally face. This week's challenge is:

It's been a rough week in the Tryon household with me being mostly out of action thanks to an injured hip.
What gives you hope? Show me.

You are free to interpret this prompt as needed.
All photos must be new, and specifically taken for this challenge.
Leave a comment in this journal with a link to your photograph.
The deadline is Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:59 PM PST.
One winner will be selected, and will receive 100 :points: within the first two weeks of the following month.

Are you going to start a new set of challenges for 2017? I'm going to try and do a 52 week challenge this year (working up to the 365), and I always loved the prompts you guys came up with.

Thanks!. The 52 week challenge ran out of steam toward the end of the year. We're going to let it rest for 2017 then look at it again. There are plenty of other challenges and contests going on if you hang out on CRPhotography.

Where there is Beauty there is Hope (updated) by EyeOfTheKat

This one from me, Steve.

2016 happened so many bad things, but there is hope. This beautiful scene gave me the most wonderful feeling of peace and hope.
All the best to you and everybody else on dA in 2017.
Love,
Kat

A poignant note to end the year, Steve. I take it we can still take photos up to the end of December, or does it have to be pre-challenge?

I prefer "Not the only," but I don't quite understand the conditions well enough to know which works better.

My submission: fav.me/daeur1c

This was actually a hard choice between a few of my pictures that bring me back to the freedom I felt when I was there and the peace of mind I found in that place. I ended up with the one above because my walk through Hidden Valley in Joshua Tree NP probably inherited the most freedom and peace I have ever felt. Being completely alone, no distracting noises by humans, only the soft voice of nature coming to my ears, the gentle weather conditions, the beautiful landscape and sunset - it all stuck to me.

No prizes this time other than sharing your images of peace with each other. And that, my friend, matters a whole lot more than points and prizes.
