Moonrise

Wed Feb 8, 2012, 9:14 AM

Feel free to use any of my waterscape or landscape photographs as stock images. I ask only that you let me know, and that you post a link to the original.

The Heidelberg Catechism, published in 1563, remains one of the warmest expressions of the Christian faith ever written. This is how it begins.
What is your only comfort in life and in death?

That I am not my own,
but belong --
     body and soul,
in life and in death --
to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ.

He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood,
and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil.
He also watches over me in such a way
that not a hair can fall from my head
          without the will of my Father in heaven;
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

Because I belong to him,
Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly will and ready
from now on to live for him.

It's the moon. I have a series of photos of this but this was my favorite. There is another in my gallery that was taken just after the moon cleared the mountain. I was not exposing the moon for detail but for impact. So it's overexposed. Also the snow blowing off the top of the mountain created a good bit of flare. This is the later image: [link]
Feel free to check the EXIF info. I believe moon rise in Alaska was around 6:30 PM give or take.
